Mixing of Pseudoscalar Mesons
نویسنده
چکیده
η – η mixing is discussed in the quark-flavor basis with the hypothesis that the decay constants follow the pattern of particle state mixing. On exploiting the divergences of the axial vector currents – which embody the axial vector anomaly – all mixing parameters are fixed to first order of flavor symmetry breaking. An alternative set of parameters is obtained from a phenomenological analysis. We also discuss mixing in the octet-singlet basis and show how the relevant mixing parameters are related to those in the quark-flavor basis. The dependence of the mixing parameters on the strength of the anomaly and the amount of flavor symmetry breaking is investigated. Finally, we present a few applications of the quark-flavor mixing scheme, such as radiative decays of vector mesons, the photon-pseudoscalar meson transition form factors, the coupling constants of η and η to nucleons, and the isospin-singlet admixtures to the π0 meson. New Mass and Mass-Mixing Angle Relations for Pseudoscalar Mesons
We study the origins of the inaccuracies of Schwinger’s nonet mass, and the Sakurai mass-mixing angle, formulae for the pseudoscalar meson nonet, and suggest new versions of them, modified by the inclusion of the pseudoscalar decay constants. We use these new formulae to determine the pseudoscalar decay constants and mixing angle. The results obtained, f8/fπ = 1.185±0.040, f9/fπ = 1.095 ± 0.020...
متن کاملMixing of Pseudoscalar Mesons and Isospin Symmetry Breaking
Mixing of the pseudoscalar mesons is discussed in the quark-flavor basis with the hypothesis that the basis decay constants follow the pattern of particle state mixing. The divergences of the axial vector currents which embody the axial vector anomaly, combined with this hypothesis provide a calculational scheme for the parameters describing the mixing of the π, η and η mesons. Phenomenological...
متن کاملMixing and Cp Violation in D Mesons
We review mixing and CP violation in D mesons, emphasizing the differences with the other pseudoscalar mesons in the Standard Model, and show that D mesons can be useful to look for physics beyond the Standard Model. متن کاملThe η-η′ mixing angle revisited
The value of the η-η′ mixing angle θP is phenomenologically deduced from a rather exhaustive and up-to-date analysis of data including strong decays of tensor and higher-spin mesons, electromagnetic decays of vector and pseudoscalar mesons, J/ψ decays into a vector and a pseudoscalar meson, and other transitions. A value of θP between −17◦ and −13◦ is consistent with the present experimental ev...
متن کاملQuark Structure of Pseudoscalar Mesons
I review to which extent the properties of pseudoscalar mesons can be understood in terms of the underlying quark (and eventually gluon) structure. Special emphasis is put on the progress in our understanding of η-η mixing. Process-independent mixing parameters are defined, and relations between different bases and conventions are studied. Both, the low-energy description in the framework of Ch...
متن کاملThe Breaking of Isospin and the ρ–ω–System
Although there are no doubts that all observed strong interaction phenomena can be described within the theory of QCD, a quantitative description of the strong interaction phenomena in the low energy sector is still lacking, although some features of the low energy phenomena have been partially understood by the lattice gauge theory approach. The low energy sector of the physics of the strong i...
